The calling of pastor teacher described in Ephesians 4 is an incredible responsibility. To “train the saints” certainly appears an endless job save for the King’s return. But changed lives have their way of sustaining us – convincing us to keep up the fight – if only for another day. Success fuels us all. Success provides affirmation we are in fact useful to God. Our stewardship compels us to make the greatest impact possible with our talents and treasures.
Satan is competing hard to get our best young athletes on his team using the far-reaching influence of the business of sports. It is painful to see anyone lead astray. But these gifted young athletes have more eyes and ears on them each day than a good pastor in a month of Sundays. Far too often these “leaders” are leading the wrong way. What an impact they could have as soldiers for Christ. But they need someone to stand along side them. They need help getting equipped for the battle.
